Update 4 - Major changes


This is likely the last update to the game, barring bug fixes. The simulation has been overhauled. The "demand" parameter has been replaced with "Reach", while we now have ad agencies instead of bars (which didn't make much sense anyways, fun though they are!).

A short list of the changes:

  • Many game formulas have been changed/tweaked.
    • One major change is replacing bars with ad agencies. Each factory can now sell to a percentage of the population, a parameter that is called "reach". Since this is a percent, the actual population (and also population cap) is much more crucial than before.
    • Apartment buildings now only determine the population cap. But you can hire recruiters through them to increase population.
    • Resource consumption is removed. The only goal of the game is now to pollute.
  • Maxed-out buildings now have a "Boost" button to increase their performance temporarily.
  • Auto save/load. The game now automatically saves progress and reloads them on next launch.
  • Tooltips have been updated to provide better explanations.
  • Game is now paused when the settings screen is open.
  • The planet now goes completely black when pollution is maxed.
  • Fixes to the upgrade pricing, making the last upgrade of apartment buildings attainable.
  • More smooth updating of the amount of smoke a building generates.
  • Some bugfixes.

Apart from these, source code has been refactored completely, making it better suited for changes. Remember that you can check out the source code on github.
